Ethics in Library Sciences

In this paper, the values of morality in professional field has been discussed. It’s termed as Ethics. The term Ethics is derived from Greek word Ethikos with actually meaning custom or habit. The following paper will aid to determine the fundamental concepts behind ethics in professional field of Library and Information Sciences. It will deal with attempts were previously made to understand and to find out the answers to basic questions such as is it right, is it good, is it bad, is it humane or not etc. Our indulgence towards library ethics has evolved along with the time and development of librarianship itself as it seems to be much evolved than the earlier and primitive times of the foundation course. The basic ethics are majorly categorized as ethics, issue, identity, access, future and funding universally but with the course of time it has changed from contextual point of view. The alterations are indeed necessary to project the correct and precise agenda of ethics in library sciences, the way they were meant to project at the first place. Individuals should explore the ethics near the start of the course so that every single dimension of librarianship like attitude to social issue, interpreting admittance, how can one seek funding etc. can be observed through ethical end. Ethics is not same as good customer service or efficient management. Librarianship shares ethical values with other professions as well as with concern to maintain custody of confidentiality and to avoid any sort of conflicts. This paper has tried to aid on how the application of ethical values can be centralized in context to library (Preer, 2008). Information Technology in Library Studies: An Overview

Information is the main feature of any kind of research and development as air is vital for the existence of all living creatures on Earth. India is a developing country, we Indians are always trying to improve the technology for making country more developed. Currently, libraries are prepared to achieve the Information Technology centered services as the technology of information is playing significant role for development of library. In this paper, an effort has been made to study and understand the prominence of information technology in library services and Library consortia. Consortia is defined as a group of two or more people, firms, establishments or governments with an aim of sharing information for attaining a joint goal and library consortia is the platform for sharing the information among the library users. A discussion has been done in this paper about the advantages, disadvantages, model of library consortia. The drive of this paper is to offer brief synopsis available on library consortia. Role of Library in Knowledge Management

Preservation and Conservation of Library Material

In third world countries, Libraries despite the restrictions of finance confronting them still make huge investment on acquisition of library resources. One of the greatest challenges are deterioration of library resources which plaguing the libraries. From a massive loss of her heritage, it should be savage these library resources and libraries and these study examines preservation and conservation of library material. The library security is most used measure of preservation and conservation practices that is reveal by finding. The deterioration of library material has greatest causes which is dust and particular matter. The finding further revealed that dusting, cleaning and proper shelving are major techniques which is adopted by libraries. Student Engagement and Attitude towards the use of library

The operation of the university libraries in the competitive environment and providing services and resources is considered as one of the biggest challenges for the engagement of students. The attention towards these topics is of limited amount and time. The designing and the planning of awareness of library and the literacy of information programs which is most specifically for the new students who have presented themselves as a librarians in recent times. The main purpose of this paper is to determine the research findings of the study that examines the experience of students ‘with research, library and the usage of information before visiting the university and their attitude towards the information and library. The involvement of Library is seen in the information literacy program delivery among students of the university with an effort to engage them and make them involved in activities throughout universities. This paper evaluates what efforts are taking by the library to engage students in the library and the use of information. The paper also includes the suggestions which are to provide sufficient funds, staff should be trained, an education program for students and the e-library provision by students.
